state of the economy, and other present day conditions
must be considered by both the legislative and executive
branches of government in rendering a judgment as to the
most feasible, practical, effective and fiscally
responsible method of meeting at least the minimum
requirements of the federally mandated programs described
herein; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Department of Transportation is directed to conduct
an in—depth investigation into all possible alternative
and optional methods for the enforcement of [[vehicle
exhaust emission levels and]] vehicle safety equipment
standards and vehicle exhaust emission levels and report
its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly
by January 1, 1976 [[and report its findings and
recommendations to the General Assembly by January 1,
1976]]; and be it further
[[RESOLVED, that the Department of Health and Mental
Hygiene is directed to conduct an in—depth investigation
into all possible alternative and optional methods for
the establishment of vehicle exhaust emission standards;
and be it further
RESOLVED, that the Department of Transportation is
directed to coordinate both investigations and report the
findings to the General Assembly by January 1, 1976; and
be it further]]
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
