AN ACT concerning
Baltimore City — Special Police and Parking Citations
FOR the purpose of authorizing the Police Commissioner of
Baltimore City to appoint special parking
enforcement officers who shall enforce parking laws
and regulations in Baltimore City as prescribed by
ordinance; and providing for the issuance of
citations for parking violations; and generally
relating to special parking enforcement officers in
Baltimore City.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 16-16B be and it is hereby
added to the Public Local Laws of Baltimore City being
Article 4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1969 Edition, as amended) to read as follows:

16-16B.
(1) THE COMMISSIONER MAY APPOINT EMPLOYEES OF THE
CITY AS SPECIAL PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICER. THE MAYOR
AND CITY COUNCIL OF BALTIMORE BY ORDINANCE MAY PROVIDE
FOR THEIR NOMINATION, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS AND PROCEDURES AS
SPECIAL PARKING ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. THE OFFICERS MAY
ISSUE CITATIONS TO APPEAR BEFORE THE APPROPRIATE DIVISION
OF THE DISTRICT COURT FOR VIOLATION WITHIN THE CITY OF
ANY CITY OR STATE LAW OR REGULATION PERTAINING TO
PARKING. THE CITATIONS HAVE THE SAME LEGAL EFFECT AS IF
ISSUED BY A BALTIMORE CITY POLICE OFFICER.
