AN ACT concerning
Automobile Manufacturers — Penalties
FOR the purpose of permitting the Administrator of the
Motor Vehicle Administration to impose a penalty
upon licensed automobile manufacturers under certain
conditions and to order restitution to injured
parties under certain conditions.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments,
Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws
Section 5-707(c)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 5-707(c) of Article 66 1/2 -
Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970
Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

5-707.
(c) If the Administration determines that any
licensee is guilty of any violation of any of the
provisions of this [[article]] PART VII, the authority of
the licensee to do business may be revoked or suspended
for a period of time determined by the Administration.
IN LIED OF, OR IN ADDITION TO, REVOCATION OR SUSPENSION
OF A LICENSEE'S AUTHORITY TO DO BUSINESS, THE
ADMINISTRATOR MAY (1) IMPOSE A PENALTY OF NOT LESS THAN
$100 OR MORE THAN $50,000 FOR EACH VIOLATION OF THIS
[[ARTICLE]] PART VII BY ANY LICENSEE WHOSE AUTHORITY TO
DO BUSINESS IS SUBJECT TO REVOCATION OR SUSPENSION UNDER
THE PROVISIONS OF THIS [[ARTICLE]] PART VII. AND (2)
REQUIRE THAT RESTITUTION BE MADE BY A LICENSEE TO ANY
PERSON WHO HAS SUFFERED FINANCIAL INJURY OR DAMAGE AS A
RESULT OF THE VIOLATION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1975.
