assist the Board in the discharge of its duties. The
compensation of the inspectors and examiners shall be as
provided in the annual State budget, but in no event less
than fifteen dollars ($15,00) nor more than twenty-five
dollars ($25.00) for each day employed in the discharge
of their official duties.

If the Board finds that the applicant has submitted
the credentials required by this subtitle for admission
to examination, and has paid the registration and
examination fees required by this subtitle, the Board
shall admit such applicant to examination, and shall
issue [certificates of registration to practice as
operator, manager, demonstrator or teacher, as the case
may be,] THE APPROPRIATE CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION to
those successfully passing the required examinations.
The Board will meet as often as necessary to pass an
order setting the time, place, and date of examinations
and may designate certain of its employees to give either
or both the written or practical portions of the
examination.

(a) The Board [shall have the power to] MAY
refuse, revoke or suspend licenses or certificates, upon
due hearing, on proof of violation of any provisions of
this subtitle or the rules and regulations established by
the Board under this subtitle, or for gross incompetency
or dishonest or unethical practices, [and may refuse to
grant a certificate to a person guilty of] OR FOR fraud
in passing the examination OR FOR, unprofessional,
immoral or dishonest conduct, or to one addicted to the
liquor or drug habit to such a degree as to render him or
her unfit to practice in any of the occupations
classified under this subtitle, or to anyone advertising
by means of knowingly false or deceptive statements, or
for failure to display the certificate provided in this
subtitle, and [shall have the power to] MAY require by
summons, [which shall be] EITHER DELIVERED BY CERTIFIED
MAIL OR served by the Sheriff of Baltimore City or the
counties where witnesses may reside, the attendance of
witnesses and the production of such books, records and
papers as it may desire. Before any certificate shall
be suspended or revoked for any of the reasons contained
in this section, the holder thereof shall have notice, in
writing, of the charge or charges against him or her, and
shall, at a day specified in said notice, which shall be
at least five days after the service thereof, be given a
public hearing, before the Board or its secretary with
full opportunity to produce testimony in his or her
behalf and to confront the witnesses against him or her.
