AN ACT concerning
Vehicle Laws — Registration Plates
FOR the purpose of authorising the issuance of
reflectorized registration plates to commemorate the
bicentennial by the Administration; authorizing
[[the issuance of]] The Motor Vehicle Administration
to issue substitute registration plates to
commemorate the Bicentennial; [[providing for the
fees]] permitting fees to be charged for these
plates; and revising and clarifying language.
BY repealing and re-enacting, with amendments,
Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws
Section 3-410, 3-415, and 3-834

SECTION 1, BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 3-410, 3-415, and 3-834 of
Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1970 Replacement Volume and 1974 Supplement) be
and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Article 66 1/2 — Vehicle Laws
3-410.
(a) The [Department] ADMINISTRATION, upon
registering a vehicle shall issue to the owner one
registration plate for a motorcycle, trailer, or
semitrailer, and two registration plates for every other
vehicle, but the [Department] ADMINISTRATION may provide
for the issuance of only one temporary registration plate
for amy type of vehicle.
(b) Every registration plate shall have displayed
upon it the registration number assigned to the vehicle
for which it is issued, and the name of this State, which
may be abbreviated. The registration number shall be not
less than 3 inches high, with each stroke not less than
1/4 inch in width, except that the number on plates for
vehicles which require only one registration plate shall
be not less than 1 inch high, with each stroke not less
than 1/8 inch in width. The registration number may
consist of letters, numerals, or both. Registration
plates [shall not] [[MAY]] shall not be reflectorized
