MONTGOMERY COUNTY
91-6A, title "Temperature Control", of Chapter 91,
title "Housing Standards", Montgomery County Code
1965, as amended, to provide that an owner of a
rental dwelling unit shall maintain, or shall
provide equipment capable of maintaining a certain
year—round minimum temperature in such dwelling
unit.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL FOR MONTGOMERY
COUNTY, MARYLAND, that -
Sec. 1. Section 91—6A, title "Temperature Control",
of Chapter 91, title "Housing Standards", Montgomery
County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby repealed and
reenacted with amendments to read as follows:
91—6A. Temperature Control.
(a) Every owner of a dwelling unit in which the
heat is not under the control of the tenant shall
maintain in such unit a temperature of at least
sixty—eight degrees Fahrenheit in all habitable rooms,
bathrooms and water closet compartments at a distance of
three feet above floor level when the outdoor temperature
is not less than ten degrees Fahrenheit.
(b) Every owner of a dwelling unit in which the
heat is under the control of the tenant shall provide in
working condition heating equipment capable of
maintaining in such unit a temperature of at least
sixty—eight degrees Fahrenheit in all habitable rooms,
bathrooms and water closet compartments at a distance of
three feet above floor level when the outdoor temperature
is not less than ten degrees Fahrenheit.
Sec. 2. Effective date.
This Act shall take effect on the 76th day following
the date on which it becomes law.

AN ACT to amend Chapter 93A of the Montgomery County Code
1965, as amended (Chapter 29 of the Montgomery
County Code 1972, title "Fair Landlord-Tenant
Relations," to add a new Article V, title "Rent
Controls," to provide that no landlord shall
increase the rent for any dwelling unit covered by
