HOWARD COUNTY
DISTRICT, AND THE OWNER SHALL PROVIDE THE OWNER'S NAME,
LOCATION, TITLE DEED REFERENCE AND ACREAGE OF THE PARCEL.
UPON RECEIPT OF SUCH PETITION, THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC
WORKS SHALL SCHEDULE A HEARING UPON SAID PETITION BEFORE
THE BOARD AT THE EARLIEST CONVENIENT DATE.
(C) THE PUBLIC WORKS BOARD MAY APPROVE THE
INCORPORATION OF SAID PARCEL IF IT SHALL AFFIRMATIVELY
FIND IN WRITING THAT THE PARCEL MEETS THE ABOVE
CONDITIONS.
(D) NOTHING HEREIN CONTAINED SHALL BE CONSTRUED AS
THE DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY TO THE PUBLIC WORKS BOARD TO
APPROVE ANY ENLARGEMENT OF THE METROPOLITAN DISTRICT
OUTSIDE OF THE PERIMETER OR CIRCUMFERENCE BOUNDARIES OF
SAID METROPOLITAN DISTRICT WHICH EXIST FROM TIME TO TIME
AS CREATED OR ENLARGED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF HOWARD
COUNTY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that this shall take
effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.
This Bill, having been approved by the Executive and
returned to the Council, stands enacted on May 15, 1973.

AN ACT to add new Sections 16.600 and 16.601 of Title 16
of the Howard County Code Title "Planning, Zoning
and Subdivision Control,11 Subtitle "Historic
District commission," defining a historic district,
establishing a Historic District Commission, and
providing for its appointment, powers and duties.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that new Sections 16.600 and
16.601 be and are hereby added to the Howard County Code,
Title "Planning, Zoning and Subdivision Control,"
subtitle "Historic District Commission," and to read as
follows:
16.60 0 - HISTORIC DISTRICT.
A. - DEFINITIONS
1. AS USED HEREIN THE TERM "HISTORIC
DISTRICT" MEANS AN AREA IN THE COUNTY WHICH IS DEEMED TO
