ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Sections 10-300,
10-301, 10-302, 10-303, 10-304, of the Anne Arundel
County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 10,
"Fire Protection", Subtitle 3, "Volunteer Firemen's
Service Award Program", as enacted by Bill No. 57—73 be,
and they are hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Section 10-300
There is hereby established a retirement program for
qualified active volunteer members of Anne Arundel County
Volunteer Fire Companies AND THE 7TH DISTRICT AMBULANCE
AND RESCUE SQUAD, INC, For purposes of this Subtitle, an
active volunteer member is defined as a person who has
accumulated a minimum of fifty (50) points per calendar
year, in accordance with the point system set forth in
Section 10—306.
Section 10-301
Any person who has served as a member of an Anne
Arundel County Volunteer Fire Company AND/OR THE 7TH
DISTRICT AMBULANCE AND RESCUE SQUAD, INC. shall be
eligible to receive benefits hereinafter set forth,
provided:
(1) Said person is certified in accordance with
the provisions of Section 10—303 hereof, to have served
as an active volunteer subsequent to December 31, 1969.
(2) Any persons who discontinued active volunteer
service prior to January 1, 1970 may receive credit for
said service after being certified (in accordance with
the provisions of Section 10—303) to have performed five
(5) years active volunteer service subsequent to said
date.
Section 10—302
Beginning January 1, 1974, any person who has
reached the age of sixty—two (62) years and who has
completed twenty—five (25) years of certified active
voluntary service with an Anne Arundel County Volunteer
Fire Company AND/OR THE 7TH DISTRICT AMBULANCE AND RESCUE
SQUAD, INC. shall receive benefits in the amount of One
Hundred Dollars ($100.00) per month, for life. Payments
shall begin on the first day of the first month following
eligibility. The program shall be administered by the
Controller, and payments shall be made directly to the
volunteer entitled to said benefits.
