be, and it is hereby repealed and re—enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
Section 1-221
(b) The term "employee" means any paid employee of
the County (including school crossing guards, but
excluding all other employees paid on the Police and Fire
Schedule); AND ANY PAID EMPLOYEE OF THE MARYLAND
ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES INCORPORATED whose, regular
employment is for not less than five hundred (500) hours
per year and for not less than four (4) months per year.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that this
Ordinance shall take effect forty—five (45) days from the
date it becomes law, provided that the provisions thereof
shall he applied retroactively to July 1, 1973.

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re—enact, with amendments.
Section 14—303 (e) (1) of the Anne Arundel County
Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 14,
"Police", Subtitle 3, "Police and Fire Service
Retirement", to change the method for determining
the annual amount of disability pension payable to
an eligible participant.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 14-303 (e)
(1) of the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 14, "Police", Subtitle 3, "Police and
Fire Service Retirement" be, and it is hereby repealed
and re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Section 14-303 (e)
(1) If a participant is deemed to be totally and
permanently disabled in accordance with the provisions of
subsections (a) and (b) of this section, and such
disability is the result of bodily injury or disease
arising out of and directly related to an on—duty cause,
the annual amount of the participant's disability pension
shall be equal to sixty—six and two—thirds per cent (66
2/3%) of his final earnings, less that portion of the
annual amount of earnings received from gainful
employment in the preceding calendar year which, when
added to the amount of disability pension, is in excess
