RISING SUN

TIME OF THEIR ELECTION TO OFFICE, QUALIFIED VOTERS OF THE
TOWN AND BONA FIDE RESIDENTS OF SAID TOWN FOR AT LEAST
ONE YEAR NEXT PRECEDING THE DATE OF THEIR ELECTION.

B.     NOMINATION. ANY CITIZEN OF THE TOWN, BEING
OTHERWISE QUALIFIED AS INDICATED HEREIN, DESIRING TO BE A
CANDIDATE FOP THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT OR FOR THE OFFICE
OF COMMISSIONER, MAY BY LETTER ADDRESSED TO THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS OF THE TOWN OF RISING SUN EXPRESS HIS
INTENTION TO BE A CANDIDATE FOR A SPECIFIED OFFICE AND
REQUEST THAT HIS NAME BE SO PLACED ON THE OFFICIAL BALLOT
AT THE NEXT ENSUING ELECTION, OR ANY DULY QUALIFIED
CITIZEN OF THE TOWN MAY BE NOMINATED FOR EITHER OF THE
SAID OFFICES FROM THE FLOOR AT THE ANNUAL TOWN MEETING TO
BE HELD ON THE LAST TUESDAY IN MAY OF EACH YEAR. IF THE
NOMINATION OF A CANDIDATE FOR SAID OFFICES IS IN WRITING,
IT MUST BE IN THE HANDS OF THE SECRETARY TO THE BOARD OF
COMMISSIONERS PRIOR TO THE ADJOURNMENT OF THE SAID ANNUAL
TOWN MEETING.

C.     ELECTION AND TERM OF OFFICE. THE MEMBERS OF
THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE ELECTED TO SERVE FOUR
YEAR TERRS WITH THE ELECTIONS STAGGERED SO THAT
APPROXIMATELY ONE HALF OF THE BOARD IS ELECTED EVERY TWO
YEARS, EXCEPT THAT THE ELECTIONS OF 1973 SHALL BE FOR
TERMS OF THREE YEARS. ALL MEMBERS OF THE BOARD SHALL
SERVE UNTIL THEIR SUCCESSORS APE DULY SWORN IN. ON THE
SECOND MONDAY IN JUNE IN 1973, THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN
SHALL ELECT A PRESIDENT AND TWO COMMISSIONERS EACH OF
WHOM SHALL SERVE FOR THREE YEARS. BEGINNING WITH THE
ELECTION IN JUNE IN 1976, AND EVERY FOUR YEAR HENCE, THE
VOTERS OF THE TOWN SHALL ELECT A PRESIDENT AND TWO
COMMISSIONERS EACH OF WHOM SHALL SERVE FOR TERMS OF FOUR
YEARS. ON THE SECOND MONDAY IN JUNE IN 1974, AND EVERY
FOUR YEARS HENCE, THE VOTERS OF THE TOWN SHALL ELECT TWO
COMMISSIONERS WHO SHALL SERVE FOR TERMS OF FOUR YEARS.

SECTION 3. BSD BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
amendments proposed in this resolution shall become and
be considered a part of the Charter of the Town of Rising
Sun according to the terms of the amendments, in all
respects to be effective and observed as such on (50TH
DAY AFTER PASSAGE.) unless on or before (MOTH DAY AFTER
PASSAGE.) there shall be presented to the Board of
Commissioners a proper petition for referendum as
permitted by law.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the
Clerk—Treasurer of the Town of Rising Sun be, and she is
hereby specifically directed to post a complete and exact
copy of this resolution at the town office for a period
of forty days following its adoption by the Board of
Commissioners and to cause a fair summary of the proposed
amendments to be published in a newspaper of general
