profusely on this Pleasant Peninsula; and

WHEREAS, The County Commissioners of Calvert County
were satisfied with the work of the Committee and so
approved said design; and

WHEREAS, The Board of Commissioners of Calvert
County, on August 1, 1954, designated such design as the
official emblem of Calvert County; and

WHEREAS, It is now desirable to establish this
emblem as the Official County Seal; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the General Assembly designate this county emblem as the
Official County Seal; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the Governor of Maryland be requested
to issue a proclamation recognizing its adoption as the
Official Seal of Calvert County; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the Governor, the County Commissioners of Calvert County,
and the Calvert County Historical Society.

A Senate Joint Resolution concerning

Ride a Bicycle Day in Maryland

FOR the purpose of requesting the Governor to declare the
first Saturday in April of each year as Ride a
Bicycle Day in Maryland.

WHEREAS, The use of bicycles for transportation and
recreation is becoming increasingly popular and;

WHEREAS, The impending energy shortage has
intensified the need to encourage self—powered forms of
transportation of which the bicycle is one; and

WHEREAS, It is in the public's best interest that
State and local governments encourage and promote bicycle
riding as a form of outdoor exercise, recreation, sport
and transportation that can be enjoyed by people of all
ages; now, therefore, be it
