2986 JOINT RESOLUTIONS
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the Governor hereby declare the first Saturday in April
of each year as Ride a Bicycle Day in Maryland, to
encourage and promote the sport of bicycling among the
citizens of Maryland, and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be sent to
the State Department of Forest and Parks, the County
Executives and County Commissioners in the State, the
Mayor of Baltimore City and other municipalities
suggesting that aide a Bicycle Day be promoted through
various special activities such as, family bike hikes,
bicycle tours through state and county parks, bicycle
rides along specially designated routes in cities and
towns, bicycle rodeos for young people, bicycle safety
inspections, and other bicycle oriented activities
appropriate for particular areas of the State.

A House Joint Resolution concerning
Harford County Volunteer Fire Companies
FOR the purpose of commending the volunteer fire
companies of Harford County.
The members of the General Assembly of Maryland wish
to commend the volunteer fire companies of Harford County
for their long years of valorous service to the residents
of Harford County.
Ever since the first volunteer fire company was
formed in Harford County, the record of service of these
community minded men and women who give of themselves to
insure the safety of their fellow citizens has been in
the highest tradition of firefighting.
Their many acts of courage and self—sacrifice are
all too well known to be enumerated individually, and
their farsighted training program has insured that future
generations of firefighters will be ready and able to
meet the needs of Harford County.
The volunteer fire companies and their chiefs that
we commend today are as follows:
