AN ACT concerning
Washington County — County Clerk
FOR the purpose of relating generally to the appointment
and duties of the County Clerk of Washington County;
clarifying the language; and requiring the County
Commissioners of Washington County to forward
certain ordinances enacted with respect to the
duties of the County Clerk to the State Department
of Legislative Reference.
BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Sections 8-3, 8-4, 8-5, 3-8 and 8-9 of the
Public Local Laws of Washington County being Article 22
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1970
Edition) be and they are hereby repealed and re—enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 22
8-3.
THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL APPOINT A
COUNTY CLERK. Before entering upon the duties of his
office [he] THE COUNTY CLERK shall take and subscribe
before the clerk of the Circuit Court of Washington
County the oath prescribed in Section [six] 6 of Article
[one] I of the Constitution of Maryland.

(A) The County Clerk shall keep careful and
accurate minutes of the proceedings of the County
Commissioners, keep all records, papers and documents of
the county in his safe custody; he shall file all
accounts and claims presented against the county, and
