SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That new Section 142A be and it is hereby added
to the Public Local Laws of Calvert County being Article
5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1963
Edition and 1970 Supplement) to read as follows:

142A.
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CALVERT COUNTY MAY
PROVIDE BY ORDINANCE THAT OWNERS OF DOGS MAY NOT PERMIT
THE DOG, WHETHER LICENSED OR UNLICENSED, TO RUN AT LARGE
WITHIN THE CONFINES OF ANY PLATTED SUBDIVISION OR
DISTRICT ZONED RESIDENTIAL, EXCEPT WHEN THE DOG IS UNDER
THE CONTROL OF THE OWNER OR AN AUTHORIZED AGENT OF THE
OWNER BY LEASH, CORD OR CHAIN. HOWEVER, A PETITION
REQUESTING SUCH AN ORDINANCE SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO THE
COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AND SIGNED BY A MAJORITY OF THE
RESIDENTS OF THE PLATTED SUBDIVISION OR DISTRICT ZONED
RESIDENTIAL, WITH A DESIGNATION OF THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF
THE SPECIFIC AREA. FURTHER, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS,
AFTER [[DUE NOTICE AND A PUBLIC HEARING AS REQUIRED BY
LAW]] ADVERTISING THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE AND A PUBLIC
HEARING ON THAT ORDINANCE FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE WEEKS IN
ALL THREE NEWSPAPERS OF GENERAL CIRCULATION IN CALVERT
COUNTY, SHALL DESIGNATE THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF EACH AREA
AS PART OF ANY ENACTED ORDINANCE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Sections
136 and 145 of the Public Local Laws of Calvert County
being Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1963 Edition and 1970 Supplement) be and they
are hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
