AN ACT concerning
Real Property — Conversion of Apartments to Condominiums

FOR the purpose of [[allowing tenants of a property
changing to a condominium 120 days notice of the
proposed change and to allow the tenants to elect
whether to remain or leave without penalty ]]
providing that residential real property may not be
converted to a condominium unless the owner has
notified the tenants by a certain period of time
prior to the conversion, and providing that the
tenants may not be required to vacate except under
certain circumstances.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11—102.1 be and it is hereby added
to Article 21 - Real Property, of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1973 Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) to
read as follows:

Article 21 — Real Property
11-102.1

WHEN A PROPERTY IS CONVERTED TO A CONDOMINIUM, THE
OWNER OF THE PROPERTY SHALL GIVE ALL TENANTS 120 DAYS
NOTICE OF THE PROPOSED CHANGE. THE TENANT MAY ELECT TO
REMAIN A TENANT OR LEAVE THE PROPERTY WITH NO PENALTIES
ENFORCEABLE BY THE PROPERTY OWNER AGAINST HIM.]]
