Crimes and Punishments — Larceny over $100

FOR the purpose of eliminating the different criminal
penalties provided for the larceny of goods over
$100 based upon the place of incarceration, and to
generally provide a uniform penalty for the crime,
and correcting language.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 340 of Article 27 - Crimes and
Punishments, of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971
Replacement Volume and 1973 Supplement) be and it is
hereby repealed and re—enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

Article 27 — Crimes and Punishments
340.

Every person convicted of the crime of larceny to
the value of one hundred dollars or upwards, or as
accessory [thereto] before the fact shall be deemed
guilty of a felony, and shall restore the money, goods or
things, taken to the owner, or shall pay him the full
value thereof, and shall be fined not more than [one
thousand dollars] $1,000 or be imprisoned [in the
penitentiary] for not more than [fifteen] 15 years, [or
