(5) Doing or omitting to do any act made punishable
by a fine, imprisonment, or other penalty as provided by
the particular law, ordinance, rule, or regulation
defining the violation if the violation is not a felony.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act
shall take effect July 1, 1974.

(House Bill 1280)
AN ACT concerning

Carroll County — Deputy Sheriffs

FOR the purpose of providing that in Carroll County, a
deputy sheriff achieves tenure under certain
conditions, a tenured deputy sheriff may be
dismissed under certain conditions, renumbering as
appropriate, and relating generally to deputy
sheriffs in Carroll County.

BY repealing and re—enacting, with amendments.

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1974 Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 2-309(h) of Article - Courts and
Judicial Proceedings, of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1974 Volume) be and it is hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

Article — Courts and Judicial Proceedings
2-309.

(h) (1) The Sheriff of Carroll County shall
receive a salary of $9,500. He may appoint the number of
deputies necessary for the proper execution of the duties
of his office, who shall receive the compensation set by
the County Commissioners.
