1830                                               LAWS OF MARYLAND                           [Ch. 527

2-606.

A constable shall obey and execute all civil process
directed to him from any judge of the District Court of
Maryland concerning any natter within the court's
jurisdiction and shall return the process according to
its command. He shall serve and levy all executions
issued by a judge of the District Court, and in so doing
has the same powers, responsibilities and liabilities as
a sheriff or deputy sheriff acting in the same capacity
if the constable has satisfactorily completed a training
program from a police training school approved by THE
Maryland Police Training Commission.

4-301.

Except as provided in § 4—302, the District court
has exclusive original jurisdiction in a criminal case in
which a person at least 16 years old[,] or a corporation
is charged with violation of the vehicle laws, or the
State Boat Act, or rules and regulations adopted pursuant
to it, or in which a person at least 18 years old or a
corporation is charged with:

(1)   Commission of a common—law or statutory
misdemeanor;

(2)   Violation of any of the following sections of
Article 27 of the Code, whether a felony or a
misdemeanor, if the amount of money or the value of the
thing taken, stolen, received, converted, or shoplifted
does not exceed $500:

Sec.      140    (false pretenses)

Sec.      142    (false pretenses)

Sec.      144    (false pretenses)

Sec.      340    (larceny)

Sec.      353    (larceny after trust)

Sec.      466    (receiving stolen goods)

Sec.      551A (Shoplifting) ;

(3)   Violation of a county, municipal, or other
ordinance, if the violation is not a felony;

(4)   Criminal violation of a State, county, or
municipal rule or regulation, if the violation is not a
felony; or
