THE HISTORY OF MARYLAND AND OUR AMERICAN CULTURE.
(2) THE GOVERNOR, FROM TIME TO TIME, SHALL
DESIGNATE A CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN FROM AMONG THE
MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION.
(3) THE COMMISSION SHALL MEET AT THE CALL OF
EITHER THE CHAIRMAN OR A MAJORITY OF THE MEMBERS.
(C) THE COMMISSION SHALL:
(1) INITIATE, DIRECT, AND COORDINATE PROJECTS
WHICH FURTHER THE UNDERSTANDING OF BOTH BLACK AND INDIAN
HISTORY AND CULTURE;
(2) CONTINUE THE SURVEY OF HISTORIC
BUILDINGS, SITES, ARTIFACTS, ARCHIVES AND REPOSITORIES,
AND PUBLISH AND DISSEMINATE THESE FINDINGS AND
INFORMATION;
(3) UNDERTAKE A COMPREHENSIVE STUDY OF
INDIGENOUS AMERICAN INDIAN TRIBES AND THEIR INFLUENCE
UPON MARYLAND HISTORY AND CULTURE;
(4) COORDINATE THE PARTICIPATION OF BLACK AND
INDIAN GROUPS RESPECTIVELY IN THE AMERICAN BICENTENNIAL
OBSERVANCE BY ESTABLISHING A LIAISON WITH APPROPRIATE
STATE AND HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL AGENCIES AND OTHER
ORGANIZATIONS THROUGHOUT THE STATE, AND IMPLEMENTING
COMMISSION-SPONSORED PROJECTS;
(5) ESTABLISH A CENTER TO HOUSE AND
[[DISPLAT]] DISPLAY PHOTOGRAPHS, OBJECTS, ORAL HISTORY
TAPES, ARTIFACTS AND OTHER MATERIALS OF BLACK HISTORIC
AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE. THE CENTER SHALL BE LOCATED
IN ANNAPOLIS AND AVAILABLE FOR THE BICENTENNIAL
OBSERVANCE;
(6) LOCATE, PRESERVE AND DISSEMINATE
INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC ABOUT SIGNIFICANT BUILDINGS AND
SITES RELATING TO BLACK AND INDIAN HISTORY AND CULTURE,
RESPECTIVELY; AND
(7) PUBLISH AN ANNUAL REPORT AND ANY OTHER
MATERIAL IT DEEMS NECESSARY.
(D) THE RECORDS, MATERIALS, PERSONAL PROPERTY,
FILES, MONIES, CREDITS AND OTHER ASSETS AND LIABILITIES
AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE MARYLAND COMMISSION ON NEGRO
HISTORY AND [[CLUTURE]] CULTURE ARE HEREBY TRANSFERRED TO
THE MARYLAND COMMISSION ON AFRO-AMERICAN AND INDIAN
HISTORY AND CULTURE.
(E) THE COMMISSION MAY SEEK FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL
