markets, labor, banking and financing facilities, industrial sites and other fields of
research.
(2) Encourage location of new industrial enterprises in the State and the
retention and expansion of present enterprises in coordination with local governing
bodies and local economic development agencies.
(3) [Encourage development of recreational areas and encourage tourist
business in the State, making the public aware of the State's historical background
and progress, and generally advertise the State and disseminate information
thereon.] COORDINATE ITS ACTIVITIES WITH THOSE OF THE
DIVISION OF [[TOURISM]] TOURIST DEVELOPMENT IN THE
PROMOTION OF TOURISM IN THE STATE.
(4) Encourage formation of local and sectional development committees and
cooperate with local civic groups and other local, State and federal development
agencies.
(5) Disseminate information in the interest of industrial development in this
State, by publication, advertising and other means.
(6) Collect and assemble information and data available from other State
agencies and departments.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 5 of Chapter 557 of
the Acts of Maryland, 1968, to provide that in Carroll County after a certain
date the County shall enter into an agreement which shall provide that the
County shall pay certain costs relating to certain acquisition and construction
funds.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 5 of Chapter 557 of the Acts of Maryland 1968 is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
SEC. 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the actual proceeds of the
sale of the Certificates of Indebtedness to be issued under this Act shall be paid to
the Treasurer of the State upon the warrant of the Comptroller and such proceeds
shall be used exclusively for the following purposes, to wit:
The Comptroller shall immediately upon the sale of and payment for said
certificates, first return to and credit the Treasury for a sum equivalent to the
amount expended as provided for in Section 4 of this Act; the remainder of the
proceeds of said loan shall be credited on the books of the State Treasury
Department to be expended upon approval by the Board of Public Works to aid
the County Commissioners of Carroll County in acquisition of land and any
interests therein and construction of an impoundment on the Piney Run tributary
of the south branch of the Patapsco River to be located approximately one-half
