AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 11 of Article 88B of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "State
Police," subtitle "Coordinate Duties of Department," to [[provide that a
reasonable]] change the fee for furnishing a report of a specific motor vehicle
accident [[shall be determined by the Superintendent]] by the Maryland State
Police and to provide [(that the fees received therefrom shall hereinafter be
used by the Department to be applied to the cost of providing this service.]] for
the disposition of these fees.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 11 of Article 88B of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title "State Police," subtitle "Coordinate
Duties of Department," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

The Department shall at least monthly publish statistics concerning the
occurrence and cause of all motor vehicle accidents within the State. The
Department shall also publish periodic statistics of the incidence of crime within
the State. No such statistical report shall name or otherwise identify a particular
known or suspected offender. Reports required by this section shall be distributed
to all agencies which contributed information contained in such reports, to the
press, and to all other interested persons. In addition, the Superintendent may
prescribe by rule the conditions under which reports of specific motor vehicle
accidents may be made available upon request to the public; and the fee for
furnishing any such report shall be [$1.00] [[DETERMINED BY THE
SUPERINTENDENT]], TWO DOLLARS ($2.00) AND THE MONIES
RECEIVED THEREFROM SHALL BE USED BY THE DEPARTMENT TO
BE APPLIED TO THE COST OF PROVIDING THIS SERVICE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
