[[INVESTIGATORS, THE RESEARCH-INVESTIGATOR, AND THE
PARA-LEGAL INTERNS]] within the limits herein prescribed shall be included
by the State's Attorney in his annual budget submission to the county executive
and shall be paid by the county. SALARIES OF THREE CLERKS, TWO
SPECIAL INVESTIGATORS, ONE RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR AND
PARA-LEGAL INTERNS MAY BE INCLUDED BY THE STATE'S
ATTORNEY IN HIS ANNUAL BUDGET SUBMISSION TO THE COUNTY
EXECUTIVE AND MAY BE PAID BY THE COUNTY. In addition to the
compensation provided for in this section, the State's Attorney, for the operation
of his office and the performance of his duties shall be entitled to a reasonable
expense allowance which shall be subject to the approval of the County Council.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.

(Senate Bill 1076)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 3(d) of Article 10 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1972
Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle
"Admission to the Bar," to raise the fee which the Court of Appeals may fix
for persons taking the bar examination and to correct certain obsolete language.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section 3(d) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume and 1972 Supplement), title "Attorneys at
Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "Admission to the Bar," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(d) The Court of Appeals shall prescribe rules for a uniform system of bar
examination in this State, for registration as aforesaid, for character examination
of each applicant, for admission to the bar; and for the fees to be paid by the
applicant; and generally such other rules as may be necessary or convenient to
carry out the provisions of this section. Every applicant upon presenting himself or
herself for examination before the Board of Law Examiners, shall pay to the
[treasurer of the] Board such fee, not exceeding [twenty-five] FORTY dollars, as
may be fixed by the Court of Appeals.

All moneys collected under this subtitle shall be paid over to the treasurer and
shall become general funds of the State. Such moneys shall thereafter be disbursed
by the Comptroller only pursuant to an appropriation made in accordance with §§
32 and 52 of Article 3 of the Constitution or pursuant to the provisions of §§ 1
through 15, inclusive, of Article 15A of this Code, title "Budget and
Procurement," as amended from time to time.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take
effect July 1, 1973.
