engage in the private practice of law at any time in any jurisdiction during their
tenure of office.

(3)  The State's Attorney, the deputy State's attorneys and the assistant State's
attorneys, or any of them, shall present cases to the grand jury and perform such
other acts and duties in relation to the grand jury as are necessary and proper.

(4)  The State's Attorney may appoint [nine] TWELVE clerks at such salary as
he may fix provided that no such salary shall exceed ten thousand dollars
($10,000).

(5)   The State's Attorney may appoint [a] THREE special [investigator]
INVESTIGATORS, who shall be directly under the supervision of the State's
Attorney and perform such duties as the State's Attorney may designate from time
to time. The special [investigator's] INVESTIGATORS' salary shall be
determined by the State's Attorney in his discretion, but shall not exceed twenty
thousand dollars ($20,000). The special [investigator] INVESTIGATORS shall
devote [his] THEIR full time and attention to [his] THEIR duties as special
[investigator] INVESTIGATORS and shall not engage in other employment
during the time [he is] THEY ARE employed as special [investigator]
INVESTIGATORS.

(6)        THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY APPOINT A
RESEARCH-INVESTIGATOR, WHO SHALL BE DIRECTLY UNDER THE
SUPERVISION OF THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AND PERFORM SUCH
DUTIES AS THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY DESIGNATE FROM TIME
TO TIME. THE RESEARCH INVESTIGATOR'S SALARY SHALL BE
DETERMINED BY THE STATE'S ATTORNEY IN HIS DISCRETION, BUT
SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($15,000). THE
RESEARCH-INVESTIGATOR SHALL DEVOTE HIS FULL TIME AND
ATTENTION TO HIS DUTIES AS RESEARCH-INVESTIGATOR AND
SHALL NOT ENGAGE IN OTHER EMPLOYMENT DURING THE TIME
HE IS EMPLOYED AS RESEARCH-INVESTIGATOR.

(7)  (A) THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY APPOINT FIVE FULL TIME
PARA-LEGAL INTERNS, WHO SHALL BE DIRECTLY UNDER THE
SUPERVISION OF THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AND PERFORM SUCH
DUTIES AS THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY DESIGNATE FROM TIME
TO TIME. THE SALARY OF THESE FULL-TIME PARA-LEGAL
INTERNS SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE STATE'S ATTORNEY IN
HIS DISCRETION, BUT SHALL NOT EXCEED FIFTEEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($15,000).

(B) THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY APPOINT FIVE PART-TIME
PARA-LEGAL INTERNS, WHO SHALL BE DIRECTLY UNDER THE
SUPERVISION OF THE STATE'S ATTORNEY AND PERFORM SUCH
DUTIES AS THE STATE'S ATTORNEY MAY DESIGNATE FROM TIME
TO TIME. THE SALARY OF THE PART-TIME PARA-LEGAL INTERNS
SHALL BE DETERMINED BY THE STATE'S ATTORNEY IN HIS
DISCRETION, BUT SHALL NOT EXCEED FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($5,000).

[(6)] (8) The State's Attorney may appoint an administrative assistant whose
salary shall be determined by the State's Attorney, but shall not exceed twelve
thousand dollars ($12,000) per annum.
