192                                        LAWS OF MARYLAND                                Ch. 122

(b) On expiration of the term of any PROFESSIONAL NURSE Board
member, the Maryland Nurses Association shall submit to the Governor and to
the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, a list of five of its members qualified
to serve on the Board. Appointment shall be made from this list. Vacancies
occurring on the Board shall be filled for the unexpired terms by the Governor in
the manner aforesaid. An additional list of five names shall be furnished to the
Governor and to the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene by the Maryland
Nurses Association upon the Governor's request.

(C) ON EXPIRATION OF THE TERM OF ANY LICENSED PRACTICAL
NURSE BOARD MEMBER, THE MARYLAND LICENSED PRACTICAL
NURSES ASSOCIATION SHALL SUBMIT TO THE GOVERNOR AND TO
THE SECRETARY OF HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE, A LIST OF
FIVE OF ITS MEMBERS QUALIFIED TO SERVE ON THE BOARD.
APPOINTMENT SHALL BE MADE FROM THIS LIST. VACANCIES
OCCURRING ON THE BOARD SHALL BE FILLED FOR THE
UNEXPIRED TERMS BY THE GOVERNOR IN THE MANNER
AFORESAID. AN ADDITIONAL LIST OF FIVE NAMES SHALL BE
FURNISHED TO THE GOVERNOR AND TO THE SECRETARY OF
HEALTH AND MENTAL HYGIENE BY THE MARYLAND LICENSED
PRACTICAL NURSES ASSOCIATION UPON THE GOVERNOR'S
REQUEST.

[(c)] (D) The Governor may, after notice and an opportunity for hearing, and
with the advice of the Secretary of Health and Mental Hygiene, remove any
member from the Board for neglect of any duty required by law or for
incompetency or unprofessional or dishonorable conduct.

293.

(a)  Each member of the Board shall:

(1)  Be a citizen of the United States and a resident of Maryland;

(2)  Take and file with the proper State authority the oath prescribed by Article
I, Section 6 of the Maryland Constitution before beginning his or her term of
office;

(3)  Be [a] licensed [professional nurse] under this subtitle;

(4)  Have had at least five years' successful experience in nursing administration
or nursing education and have been actively engaged in either ONE of them for at
least three years immediately preceding appointment or reappointment IF A
PROFESSIONAL NURSE MEMBER.

(5)  HAVE HAD AT LEAST FIVE YEARS' SUCCESSFUL EXPERIENCE
AS A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE AND HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY
ENGAGED IN LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSING FOR AT LEAST
THREE YEARS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING APPOINTMENT OR
REAPPOINTMENT, IF A LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE MEMBER.

(b)   At least four of the [five] SEVEN board members shall have been
graduated from an accredited college with a baccalaureate or higher degree in
nursing or in education.
