532 March y.e Twentieth 1765 Came before us the Subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for Frederick County James Barnard and acknowledged the Land and premises within mentioned to be the right and Estate of the within named Thomas Sprigg Wootton his Heirs and Assigns for ever and at the same time Darcus Barnard wife to the said James Barnard released her right of Dower to the land and premises within mentioned she being first privately examined out of the hearing of her said husband and acknowledged she did it freely and Voluntarily without being induced thereto by any threats or fear of her said Husbands displeasure David Lynn Sam.l Beall Jun.r April 4.th 1765 Received of M.r Thomas Sprigg Wootton five shillings and two pence half penny sterling for the use of the Lord Baltimore being the Alienation Fine on the within Land by virtue of a Commission from Edward Lloyd Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General Benj.a Beall Recorded the 5.th day of April 1765 6 1/2 Ex.d This Indenture made this Twentieth day of March One thousand Seven hundred and sixty five between Jeremiah Bernard of Frederick County in the Province of Maryland on the one part & Thomas Sprigg Wootton of the said County on the other part Witnesseth that the said Jeremiah Bernard for and in Consideration of the sum of Sixty pounds Currant Money to him the said Jeremiah Barnard in hand paid by the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton the receipt whereof they doth hereby acknowledge Hath granted surrendered remised released & for ever quit claim & by these Presents Doth for himself his Heirs Executors and Administrators Grant Surrender remise & for ever quit Claim unto the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton & to his Heirs & Assigns for ever part of a Tract of Land with the appurtenances lying in Frederick County afore.d called Barnards desire being his part of the said Land agreeable to the last will of his Father Luke Bernard Containing one hundred Acres of Land more or less with all his right Title Interest Possession reversion property Claim benefit & Demand whatsoever of in and to the same To have and to hold the said One hundred acres of Land with all and singular the premises with the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton his heirs or Assigns for ever and the said Jeremiah Barnard doth Covenant promise grant & agree to & with the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns and every of them by these Presents that the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton his heirs & Assigns shall and may from time to time & at all times for ever hereafter Lawfully peaceably and quietly have hold possess and Injoy all the one hundred Acres of Land hereby mentioned to be granted and released and receive the profits thereof to his or their own use without any Lawfull suit trouble or Interruption whatever of or by him the said Jeremiah Bernard his heirs Executors Administrators or Assigns or of or by any other person or persons whatsoever Claiming or to Claim any Right Title or Interest thereto that he the said Jeremiah Bernard doth Covenant and agree to and with the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton his heirs & Assigns that the said Jeremiah Bernard shall at the request and Charge in the Law of him the said Thomas Sprigg Wootton do make acknowledge Suffer and Execute or cause to be made done acknowledged Executed any further Deed or Deeds Act or Acts Assurance or Assurances Conveyance or Conveyances in |
