58) Thousand Seven hundred and fifty Six Between William Lock Weems of Prince Georges County in the Province of Maryland Gentleman of the first Part Nathaniel Chapman of Charles County in the Province aforesaid Merch.t of the second Part and Amelia Chapman of the County and Province Last Mentioned Spinster of the third part Whereas a Marriage is intended by Gods Grace shortly to be had and solemnized by and Between the said William Lock Weems and the Said Amelia Chapman (daughter of the Said Nath.a Chapman) Now this Indenture Witnesseth that for and in Consideration of the said intended Marriage and of the Sum of five hundred pounds to the Said William Lock Weems in hand paid by the Said Nathaniel Chapman at or before the Sealing and delivery of these Presents as and for the Marriage Portion of the Said Amelia Chapman the Receipt whereof the said William Lock Weems doth hereby Acknowledge and thereof and of every part thereof doth Aquit release and Discharge the Said Nathaniel Chapman his heirs Executors and Administrators by these Presents and for Providing a Competent Jointure and livelihood for the said Amelia Chapman in Case she shall after the intended Marriage happen to survive the said William Lock Weems her intended husband and for setling the Lands and Slaves herein after mentioned upon the Trusts and to and for the uses Intents and Purposes with and (under) |
