697 Maryland fs.t Know all men by these Presents that we George Steuart & John Exam.d Ross of the City of Annapolis Esq.rs and John Hepburn of Prince Georges County Esq.r Are held and firmly bound unto the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary of the said Province in the full and Just sum of Two thousand Pounds sterling money To be Paid unto the said Lord Proprietary his heirs and successors to which Payment Will and truly to be made and Done we bind ourselves and Each of us our ^and^ Every of our heirs Executors and administrators Jointly and severally for the whole and in the whole firmly By these presents Sealed with our seals and dates this 28.th day of may anno Domini 1756 The Condition of the above obligation is such that if the said George Steuart as One of the Commissioners of the Loan Office shall well and Truly Execute the Several Powers and Authoritys by him to be done and Performed According to the true Intents and meaning of an Act of Assembly Entituled an Act for Granting a supply of Forty Thousand Pounds for his Majesties service and stricking thirty four Thousand and fifteen Pounds six shillings thereof in Bills of Credit and Raising a Fund for Sinking the same that then the above Obligation to be void or else to Remain in full Force and Virtue in Law Signed Sealed and Delivered Geo Steuart seal in Presents of Francis Key Jn.o Ross seal William Steuart J Hepburn seal Be it remembered that on the Thirty first Day of May in the year of our lord seventeen hundred and fifty six before me the subscriber one of the Justices of the Provincial Court of Maryland Personally Appeered Frances Key & William Steuart the subscribing witnesses to the within Bond and made oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God that they saw the within named George Steuart ^John Ross and John Hepburn^ Esquires sign seal ^& as^ their Act and deed Deliver the within Bond to & for The uses & Purposes therein mentioned also the within named George Stuart Esq.r made Oath on the holy Evangelists of Almighty God in manner following that is to say I George Stuart do swear that I will according to the Best of my skills & knowledge faithfully Impartially & truly dem^e^an my self in the discharge of the Trust Committed to me by an Acts of the General Assembly of this Province Entituled an act for granting a supply of forty Thousand Pound for his majestys ^service^ and striking thirty four thousand & fifteen Pound six shillings thereof in Bills of Credit & Raising a Fund for sinking the same according To the Purport & Tenor of the same act so that none may be Prejudiced by Consent Privity or Procurement so help ^me^ God Jn.o Brice You are hereby ordered to Record this Bond immediately amongst the Records of the Provincial Court To W.m Sligh Clerk of the Provincial Court June the 2.d 1756 The Security in the Jn.o Brice May 31.st 1756 within Bond Approved of by 4 1/2 sides Recorded June 3.d 1756 C Hammond Indorsd |
