457) One Negro woman Called Kate aged thirty five Years or thereabouts one Negro Woman called Little Kate aged Twenty five Years or thereabouts One Negro Woman Called Amelia aged eighteen Years or thereabouts one Negro Girl Called Hagar aged ten Years or thereabouts One Negro Girl Named Sue aged Six Years or thereabouts One Negro Boy named Jimmy Aged five Years or thereabouts one negro Boy called Tom aged three Years or thereabouts one Negro Boy the son of Little Kate Aged two Years or thereabouts Two Negro Girls the Daughters of Great Kate Ages unknown To have and to hold the said several Tracts of Land to the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators or Assigns to their own Proper use and uses and as their own Proper Estate Effects from henceforth freely for ever more also the said Negroes or such of them as are now living and their Offspring for and during the Term of their ^Respective^ Natural Lives as the Proper Chattles and Effects of the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrator or Assigns And I the said Thomas Hodgkin do for my self my Executors and Administrators Covenant Promise and Agree to and with the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators and Assigns by these Presents that at the time of sealing and Delivery hereof I have in myself and by my self Good Right Title and Authority to Grant Bargain and Sell the said Severall and Respective Tracts of Land and the said Negroes and their Offspring for the Term of their Natural Lives to the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators and Assigns in manner aforesaid And I the said Thomas Hodgkin do for my self my Executors and Administrators Covenant Promise and Agree to and with the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators and Assigns by these Presents that I have not already done neither will I nor shall my heirs Executors or Administrators at any time or times hereafter do or cause or Permit or suffer to be done any Act Matter or thing whatsoever whereby to Vacate this Assignment But that I the said Thomas Hodgkin my heirs Executors or Administrators shall and will at any time or times hereafter when thereunto required by the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators Attorney or Assignees either Seperately or in Conjunction with them or either of them make Sign Seal and Execute any other or further Assignment Act or writing the more Effectually to Confirm the said William Torver Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson their Executors Administrators and Assigns in the true and Absolute Possession and Enjoyment of the said hereby Bargained and Assigned Premisses or in the sale or Disposal thereof as by his or their Council Learned in the Law shall be reasonably Advised or required In Witness I have to this Assignment set my hand and seal Provided always and it is hereby Agreed by and Between the said Parties (that) |
