452) On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Prince Geo.s Co.ty fs.t The Day and Year first within Written came the within Named James Russell before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court & Acknowledged the within Indenture and the several Tracts of Land and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right of the within named Joseph Belt his Heirs and Assigns for the Uses therein mentioned At the same Time came Ann Russell Wife of the said James Russell who being privately and out of the Hearing of her said Husband examined did freely and voluntarily confess that she gave up all her Right Title Claim Dowry and Interest of in and to the within mentioned Lands and Premisses to the within named Joseph Belt his Heirs and Assigns without being induced thereto by Fear or Threats of ill Usage from her said Husband or Fear of his Displeasure according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided Acknowledged before John Hepburn August 31.st 1753 Then Rec.d of Joseph Belt the Sum of One hundred and eighty Pounds Sterling the Consideration Money in the within Deed mentioned £ 180 Sterling James Russell Witness Tho.s Hodgkin Received of M.r Joseph Belt Sixteen Shillings and seven Pence three Farthings Sterling for his Lordships Use (it being the Alienation Fine on the within mentioned four hundred and fifteen Acres and an half Acre of Land) by Virtue of a Commission from Edward Lloyd Esquire his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General Rich.d Dorsey 14 1/4 Recorded Feb.ry 22.d 1754 March 19.th 1754 Ex.d These are to Certify That the Honourable Benjamin Tasker Esq.r Commissary General of Maryland took the Oath directed by an Act of Assembly of this Province entituled An Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for preventing Frauds in his Majestys Customs and for the Limitation of Officers Fees before Geo Steuart 1/2 sides Recorded March 19.th 1754 Ex.d I hereby Certify That John Brice Clerk of Ann Arundel County Court on the Twentieth Day of March Anno Dom 1754 took the Oath appointed by the Inspection Law in the following Words Viz.t You John Brice do Swear That you will well faithfully and impartially to the best of your Skill and Knowledge execute your Office and that you will not willingly or wittingly charge ask take exact or demand any (other) |
