453) other or Larger fees for doing your duty in your Office than is Mentioned in the Act Intituled an Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for Preventing Frauds in his Majesties Customs and for the limitation of Officers fees now in force Before me Rich.d Dorsey Recorded March 20.th 1754 1 1/2 sides Ex.d On the Twentieth day of March 1754 Personally appeared George Steuart Esq.r before me the Subscriber one of the Lord Proprietary his Justices of the Peace for Ann.ll County and took the following Oath as Judge or Register of the Land Office (Viz.t) You George Steuart do swear that you will well faithfully and Impartially to the Best of your skill and Knowledge Execute your Office and that you will not Willingly or Wittingly Change Ask take Exact or Demand any other or Larger Fees for doing your duty in your Office than is mentioned in the Act Entituled an Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for Preventing frauds in his Majesties Customs 1 1/4 and for the Limitation of Officers Fees now in force Certified P Rich.d Dorsey Recorded March 20.th 1754 Ex.d I hereby Certify that on the Twentieth day of March 1754 Came before me the subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel County Benjamin Beall and took the oath Mentioned in the Act Entituled An Act for Amending the staple of Tobacco for Preventing Frauds in his Majesties Customs and for Limitation of Officers Fees as Deputy Clerk to John Brice Esq.r Clerk of Ann.ll County Court which Oath follows in these words (Viz.t) You Benjamin Beall do swear that you will not for Lucre or Malice delay any Person or Persons Applying to you for any Business belonging to the Office you Officiate in and that you will not directly or Indirectly ask demand take or Receive from or Charge to any such Person or Persons to your own use (except your salary from your Principal) any fee or reward whatsoever for any service you shall do as Clerk of the said Office And also that in Making out the Office Fees you will not wittingly or willingly Charge other or higher fees than Limitted by the Act Entituled An Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for Preventing frauds in his Majesties Customs and for Limitation of Officers Fees Rich.d Dorsey 2 sides Recorded March 20.th 1754 |
