388) Hath by Instrument in Writing under his Lordships hand and Great Seal at Arms Dated the Twenty eighth day of February One Thousand seven hundred and fifty three Duly Appointed The Honourable Cæcilius Calvert Esq.r to Exercise the Office of Secretary of the Province of Maryland aforesaid during his Lordships Pleasure with full Power to Appoint a sufficient Deputy And also Impowering him or his sufficient Deputy to be present at all Meetings of the Governor and Council and of the Assemblys in that Province and to keep and exact Register of all their Acts Proceedings and Orders and to do and perform all other Acts Usually done by the former Secretarys of the Province aforesaid with further power to him or his Deputy to take to themselves the Advantage of Granting Ordinary Licences in the said Province which did theretofore belong to the said Office of Secretary and to receive all such other Perquisites Fees and Advantages whatsoever to the said Office of Secretary belonging or appertaining or appertaining in as full and ample manner as any Person or Persons theretofore have held or Enjoyed or ought to have held and Enjoyed the same, as in and by the said Instrument of Appointment relation thereunto being had may more fully appear Now Know Ye That I the said Cæcilius Calvert reposing great Trust and Confidence in the faithfulness Experience and Ability of Edmond Jenings of the said Province of Maryland Esq Have Ordained Constituted Appointed Deputed and made and by these Presents Do Ordain Constitute Appoint Depute and make the said Edmund Jenings my true and lawfull Deputy in and for Executing of the said Office and Place and all other the Premisses in and by the said Instrument of APpointment to me Granted for so long time as I shall think fit And I do hereby give and Grant unto the said Edmond Jenings full Power and Authority to Execute the said Office and Place and other Premisses and to Receive and take all the Rights Profits Advantages Fees Rewards and Emoluments whatsoever to the said Office and Place in any wise belonging or appertaining which are or shall be Established Used or Allowed for or in respect of the Exercise or Execution of the aforesaid Office and place with full Power to do all such Act and Acts thing & things within and about the Premisses as shall be many ways Needfull Necessary or Convenient to be done and that in as full and ample manner to all Intents and Purposes as I myself might or could do if Personally Present In Witness whereof I the said Cæcilius Calvert have hereunto set my hand and Seal this first day of March in the twenty sixth Year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and in the Year of our (Lord) |
