248) Act or Substitute Then M.r George Maxwell of S.t Marys County and Province aforesaid Merchant my True and Lawfull Attorney for and in my Name and for my Use to Ask Demand Sue for Levy recover and receive all Sum and Sums of Money Debts Goods Wares Dues Acco.ts and other Demands whatsoever which are or shall be ^Due^ Owing Payable and belonging to me or detained from me any manner of way whatsoever by any Person or Persons during or Residing in the Province of Maryland Pensylvania giving and Granting unto my said Attorney James Johnson or in Case of his Death or inability to Act or Substitute then the said George Maxwell by these Presents my full and whole Power Strength and Authority in and about the Premisses to have Use and take all Lawfull ways and means in my Name for the Recovery thereof and upon the Receipt of any such Debts dues or Sums of Money aforesaid Acquittances or other sufficient discharges for me and in my Name to make Seal and Deliver and Generally all and every other Act and Acts thing and things Device and Devices in the Law whatsoever needfull and necessary to be done in the Premisses for the Recovery of all or any such Debt or Sums of Money aforesaid for me and in may Name to do Execute and Perform as fully largely and amply to all Intents and Purposes as if I myself was Personally present or if the matter required more Special Authority Then is hereby given and Attorneys one or more under him for the Purposes afsd to make and Constitute and again at Pleasure to revoke Ratifying Allowing and holding for firm and effectual all and whatsoever my said Attorneys shall Lawfully do in and about the Premisses by Virtue hereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Second day of Decem.r Annoque Domini One Thousand seven hundred & fifty one Years Signed Sealed and Delivered in the Presence James Johnson Seal of Robert Swan Walter Smith On the back of the aforegoing Power of Attorney was thus Endorsed Viz.t Maryland Annapolis April y.e 6.th 1752 Then Came Robert Gordon one of the Subscribing Witnesses to the within Power of Attorney before me one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God that he saw James Johnson the Person Subscribing the within Power of Attorney Sign Seal and Deliver the same as his Act and Deed for the Purposes within mentioned and that Walter Smith the other Subscribing Witness was present when the said James Johnson Signed Sealed Delivered and Executed the same 5 Recorded April 7.th 1752 Robert Gordon Ex.d Know all Men by these Presents That Whereas John Digges of Conowago in Frederic County Gent by Several Deeds and Mortgages Hath engaged to Charles Carroll Esq.r Party to these Presents All his Lands at Conowago aforesaid But Whereas before the date and Execution of the said Deeds the said John Digges had sold or (Agreed) |
