186) former Secretarys of the Province aforesaid And We do hereby further Impower you the said Edmund Jenings to receive all Perquisites Fees and Advantages whatsoever to the said Office of Secretary belonging or in any wise appertaining in as full and ample manner as any Person or Persons heretofore have held or enjoyed or ought to have hold and enjoy the same To have and to hold exercise and enjoy the said Office and to take and receive all such Fees Perquisites and Advantages as aforesaid unto you the said Edmund Jenings during our Will and Pleasure and We do hereby Repeal and make Void and Null all former Commissions for the said Office Witness our Trusty and Well beloved Samuel Ogle Esquire Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the said Province this 2.d day of October in the first Year of our Dominion Annoq Domini 1751 Sam Ogle J Ross Cl Com the Great Seal in Wax Append On the Back of the aforegoing Commission was thus Endorsed Viz.t 3.d Oct.r 1751 Then Came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court the within Named Edmund Jenings and took the Several Oaths appointed to be taken by ^an^ Act of Assembly of this Province and Subscribed the Oath of Abjuration and Test according to the directions of the Act aforesaid and took the Oath of Office as is Recorded in Lib.r S folio 377 one of the Land Record Books belonging to the Provincial Court before me Robert Gordon 3 1/2 Recorded Oct.r 4.th 1751 Vide Certificate Endorsed on this Commission recorded hereafter in folio 236 Ex.d Maryland fs.t Know all Men by these Presents That We Edmund Jenings of the City of Annapolis Esq.r John Ross of the City of Annapolis Esq.r and John Brice of the City of Annapolis Esq.r are held and firmly Bound unto the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary of this Province of Maryland in the full and just Sum of Three Thousand Pounds Current Money to be paid to the said Right Honourable the Lord Proprietary and his Successors To which Payment well and truly to be made in and every of Us hereby Bind ourselves and every of Us our and every of Our Heirs Executors and Adm.rs Jointly and Severally firmly by these Presents Sealed with our Seals and Dated this third Day of October 1751 The Condition of the above Obligation is such That if the above Bounden Edmund Jenings whilst he shall continue in the Office of Secretary of Maryland shall at his own proper Cost and Charge find a Supply of good and sufficient Record Books Necessary for the Entring up of all matters and things relating to the Provincial Office and shall and will make or Cause to be made and entred True legal and perfect Records and Entries according to the Truth and Nature of the matter or thing requiring to be Entred or Recorded and shall duly and carefully look after Sustain Preserve Repair and maintain all the Several Books Papers and Records now being and remaining in the said Office as also all those that from time to time during his Continuance in the said Office shall be Added (thereunto) |
