159) him the said Charles Carroll & his Heirs as any other Person or Persons from by or under him or them Claiming or to Claim In Witness whereof and the foregoing Premisses the said parties to these Presents have hereunto Interchangeably set their hands and Seals this 14.th day of August in the Year of our Lord God 1751 Sealed and Delivered C Carroll Seal In Presence of Jn.o Chalmers John Hen.y Carroll On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Reced of Thomas Bently Twenty seven Pounds ten Shil Currency being the Consideration within mentioned Aug.t 14.th 1751 Witness Jn.o Chalmers John Hen.y Carroll C Carroll Aug.t 14.th 1751 Then Came before me one of the Justices of the Provincial Court Charles Carroll Party to the within Deed And Acknowledged the same according to Law Geo Steuart August the 14.th 1751 Received of Thomas Bently within Named the Sum of four Shill.s and four Pence Sterling for his Lordships Use (it being the Alienation fine on the within mentioned One hundred and eight Acres of Land) by Virtue of a Commission from Benjamin Tasker Esq.r his said Lordships Agent & Receiver General Recorded August 14.th 1751 Rich.d Dorsey 5 1/2 Ex.d This Indenture made the Thirty first day of August in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred and fifty one Between John Howard Son of Gideon of Frederick County Farmer of the one part and Basil Dorsey of Ann Arundel County Gentleman of the other part Witnesseth That the said John Howard for and in Consideration of the Sum of One hundred and twenty eight pounds Sterling Money of Great Britain to him in hand paid by the said Basil Dorsey before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge and thereof and of every part and parcel thereof doth fully clearly and absolutely Acquit Exonerate and Discharge the said Basil Dorsey his Exors and Adm.rs by these Presents and for divers other good Causes and Considerations him thereunto moving he the said John Howard hath Granted Bargained Sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth Grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoff and Confirm unto the said Basil Dorsey and his Heirs All those Two Parcels of Land Included in two Vacancies The one Vacancie Containing Five hundred and eighty four Acres and the other containing Sixty nine Acres ^which^ both together contain Six hundred and fifty three Acres of Land Added by a Resurvey made by the said John Howard Son of Gideon on a Tract of Land called Howards Range Originally Surveyed and Granted to the said John Howard for Two hundred & three Acres and one Quarter of an Acre of Land which said Original Survey the s.d John Howard did heretofore Bargain and sell to the said Basil Dorsey and his Heirs by a Deed of Bargain and Sale duly Acknowledged and Recorded as by the said Deed referrence being thereunto had may appear Which said Resurvey bears date the fifteenth day of February in the Year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and forty (nine) |
