       Came the within named John Sitton Before me the Subscriber
       on of his Lordship Provincial Justices who acknowledged
       the within mortgage to be his own Act and Deed according
       to the Directions of a Act of Assembly in that Case
       made and Provided

                               Know all men that I John Gray of Prince William
       County in the Collony of Virginia Planter; doe by these presents
       make Constitute and Ordain Christopher Gist of Baltimore
       County in the Province of Maryland Gentleman to be my true
       and Lawfull Attorney for me & in my name To Enquire after
       serch out & Discover all or any part of the Severall Tracts
       or Parcells of Land Due to me by reight of heirship or
       otherways in ^the^ Province of Maryland and when he shall have
       found the said Tracts or parcells of Land or any part of
       them; I give full power to my said Attorney to sell the said
       Lands or any part thereof and the same to convey according
       to the Laws of Maryland; and if any Land
       so Discovered should be in the possession of
       any Person or Persons who shall Refuse to
