476) at the same time came Hannah the Wife of the said Thomas and Acknowledged her Right of Dower to the within land and Premisses and declares that she did it freely without any Fears or Threats or Ill Usage of her said Husband Taken and Acknowledged before Alex.r Warfield son of Richd Nicho.s Gassaway son Tho.s Aug.t 25.th Reced of Samuel Yeaman for the use of the Right Honble the Lord two Shillings and two 9 penuche Sterling being for the Alienation fine of the within Lands Benj.a Tasker Recorded Aug.t 26.th 1748 Ex.d This Indenture made the 8.th Day of August in the year of our Lord Seventeen Hundred and forty Eight Between Charles Carroll of the City of Annapolis in the Province of Maryland Chyrurgeon of the one part and Nicholas Maccubbin of the City and Province af.d Merchant of the other part Whereas a Marriage hath been lately had and Solemnized Between the said Nicholas Maccubbin and Mary Clare his Wife Daughter of the said Charles Carroll with the Approbation & Consent of the said Charles Carroll Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Charles Carroll for and in Consideration thereof and towards the Marriage Portion of the said Mary Clare his Daughter to the said Nicholas Maccubbin And for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Sterling to him the said Charles Carroll in hand paid by the said Nicholas Maccubbin at and before the Ensealing and Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof the said Charles Carroll doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and of every part and parcell thereof doth hereby Release Acquit Exonerate and discharge the said Nicholas Maccubbin his Heirs Executors Adm.rs and Assigns and for Divers other Good Causes and Considerations him the said (Charles) |
