409) our Sovereign Lord George the Second King of Great Britain & Before Sir Michael Foster Knight one of his Majestys Justices assigned to hold pleas before the King himself and Sir Thomas Berth one of the Justices of his Majestys Court of Common pleas Justices & Matthew Robbins (Together with John Cronyn before Transported) was Convicted of Felony and Intitled to the Benefit of Clergy and Ordered and adjudged to be Transported to some of his Majestys Colonies and Plantations in America for the Term of Seven years accordingly an Act ^of Parliam.t made in the forth Year of the Reign of his late Majesty King George entituled an Act for the further^ Preventing Robbery Burglary and other Felonies and for the more Effectual Transportation of Felons and unlawfull Exporters of Wool and for Declaring the Law upon some points relating to Pirates And Whereas at the Delivery of the Goal of our Lord the King of the County of Witts holden at New Sarum in and for the same County on Saturday the first day of August in the Twenty first year of the Reign of our said Sovereign Lord George the King of Great Britain &c Before Sir Thomas Bunnett Knight one of the Justices of his Majestys Court of Common pleas and Edward Clive Esq.r one of the Barons of his Majestys Court of Exchequer Justices &c Reciting that Richard Chamberlain William Sawyer James Sawyer and James Clerk were at a former Session of Goal Delivery Convicted for Felonies for which they were Ex^c^luded the Benefit of Clergy and to whom his Majesty had been graciously pleased to catend his Royal Merch on Condition of Transportation to some part of America for the Term of fourteen years and that such his Intentions of Mercy had been Signifyed by the Right Honble Philip Earle of Chesterfield one of his Majestys Principal Secretaries of State Pursuant to the Directions of the ^An^ Act of Parliamen.t made in the fourth year of the Reign of his late Majesty King George Intitled an act for the further preventing Robbery Burglary and other Felonies and for the more Effectual Transportation of Felons and unlawfull Exporters of Wool and for Declaring the Law in some points Relating to Pirates the said Court did thereby Order the Transportation of the said Felons (And) |
