                               This Indenture made
       this fourth day of January Anno Dom one thousand
       Seven hundred & forty four five Between John
       Smith of Calvert County in the Province of Maryland
       af.d Merchant of the one part & Docter Charles Carroll
       of Annapolis of the other part Witnesseth that the
       said John Smith for & in the Consideration of the
       sum of Thirty pounds Current money to him in
       hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
       & thereof Doth acquit & Discharge the s.d Doc.r
       Charles Carroll his heirs Exeq.rs Adm.s & Assignes by
       these Presents he the s.d John Smith doth hereby give
       grant Bargain sell alien Enfeoffe & Confirm & by these
       presents hath give granted bargaind sold aliened
       Enfeoffed & Confirmed unto the s.d Doc.r Charles Carroll
       his heirs & Assigns for ever all the Tract or parcell
       of Land called Lukes Goodwill lying in Baltimore
       County & in Back River Neck Beginning at a
       Bounded white oak standing near the head of a
       Branch of Marshy Creek Decending into the s.d River
       & running thence North East & by North one
       hundred & thirty four pearches South East & by
       South one hundred & ninty Six pearches south
       west & by South eighty perches North North Waste
       forty perches & thence by a streight Line unto the
       Beginning containing & now laid out for one hundred
       & Eleven Acres of Land more or less according to the
       patent thereof bearing Date 17 Day of July 1736
