       that he saw Cap.t William Chapman Sign Seal and Deliver the within
       Instrument of writing as his Act and Deed for the uses Intents and
       Purposes within mentioned Sworn to before us two of his Lordship's
       Justices for said County this 27.th Day of April 1743

Ex.d Maryland fs.t   Know all men by these presents that I William
       Chapman Master the Ship Edward now lying in Patuxe^n^t River do hereby
       Constitute and appoint Nicholas Maccubbin of the City of Annapolis
       Merchant my True and lawfull Attorney to Ask Demand sue for and to use
       all Lawfull ways and means whatsoever to recover of Thomas Caton John
       Hepburn and James Wardrop the Penalty of a Charter party made with
       them by me the fifteenth Day of September Last with all Cost and Damages
       that hath shall or may Accrue by any ways or means whatsoever for their
       Noncompliance of the Terms therein mentioned hereby giving and Granting
       to my said Attorney full Power and Authority to Act and do in every respect
       as tho I were Present my self hereby Confirming the same in regard to
       the Premisses afs.d given under my hand and Seal this 5 Day of January
