       Woman named Hagar purchased as afd To have and to hold the
       afores.d nine Negroes to the af.d William Cumming Michael Macnemara
       & Samuel Soumaine their Ex.rs Adm.rs & Assigns for ever
       Provided Nevertheless that if the af.d Paul Ruiz shall make his
       personal appearance at the next Provincial Court at the Suit aforesaid
       & in the mean Time shall well & truly indemnify & save harmless the af.d
       William Cumming Michael Macnemara & Samuel Soumaine from
       all Costs and Damages w.ch shall happen for or by reason of their becoming
       Sureties as af.d then this Deed to be void & of none Effect In Witness whereof
       I the said Paul Ruiz have hereto put my Hand & Seal this thirtieth
       Day of October in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven Hundred &
       forty one

Ex.d Maryland fs.t Know all Men by these Presents that I Taillor Higginson
       of Ann Arundell County Merchant for and in Consideration
       of the full and just Sum of Eight hundred Pounds Sterling Money
       of Great Britain to me in hand paid the Receipt whereof I Do
       hereby acknowledge Have bargained Sold and Delivered and do
       by these Presents in fair and open Markett bargain Sell and
       Deliver unto Captain Richard Gill Mariner Commander and
       Master of the Ship Carolina now lying at Anchor in Patapsco
       River & an Inhabitant in his Majestys Colony of New York but
       at this time within the Province of Maryland this Sundry
       following Goods & Merchandizes Wares and Things which are now
