259 Ex.d In a Certain Letter from John Taillor of London Merchant directed to his Grandson a certain Taillor Higginson in manner following Viz.t To Taillor Higginson on the North of Potuxon River Maryland P the Duke Capt Carpenter Commander & dated the 13.th June 1740 at London among several other things therein Contained is as follows Viz.t I would have thee to raise me money by Sailles of Lands Nigroues or Stock for money to be paid off my Mordgage & for Goods sent this year £ 120 8 0 & for bills of Ex.a for Quck rents & to Pay the Custom & freight for thee Tobacco thee shall ship me this year for now I am forsed to get others to cater them because I have not money to do it my self To the afores.d Letter was Subscribed the name of John Taillor On the back of the aforegoing Letter was thus written Viz.t October the 17.th 1741 Then Came Paul Ruiz before me one of his Lordships the Right Honble the Lord Prop.ry his Justices of the Provincial Court & made oath on the holy Evangels of Almighty God that he is very well acquainted with John Taillor of London Merchant & hath had some dealings with him & that the name John Taillor Subscribed at the foot of the within Letter as well as the Letter it self is of the Subscribing & hand Writing of the said John Taillor Sworn to before me J Brice Recorded 17.th October 1741 Ex.d In a certain Letter from John Taillor of London Merchant directed to his Grandson a certain Taillor Higginson in manner following Viz.t To Taillor Higginson on the north branch of Petuxent River Maryland & dated at London the 22.th of 10 month 1738 among several other things therein Contained is as follows Viz.t Thee has orders for selling several Trakes of Land but do not take any Notice what they will yield I paid last year & rent £ 39 11 6 Linnen sent P Prisarick 26 3 6 and P Carpenter £ 48 2 11 & in nails & Linnen to Settle with Moale £ 109 5 7 makes in all £ 223 3 6 Paid £ 39 11 6 unpaid £ 183 12 6 & 3 bills thee has drawn 15 6 in all unpaid £ 198 18 and I have 8 Hh.d Tob.o towards Paying the same thee must Sell Lands Negrows & Stock to raise money to pay or else all will be Seased on & sold to grate Losse as I belive D.r Hilles Estate is To the afores.d Letter was Subscribed the name of John Taillor On the back of the aforegoing Letter was thus written Viz.t October the 7.th 1741 Then Came Paul Ruiz before me one of his Lordships the Right Honble the Lord Prop.ry his Justices of the Provincial Court & made oath |
