Ex.d                    To all whom these Presents shall come I
       Edmund Jenings Esq.r Secretary of this Province of Maryland send
       Greeting Whereas his Lordship the Lord Proprietary of this Province
       hath upon the Application of the said Edmund Jenings signifyed
       under his hand and lesser Seal at Arms his Leave & Permission for
       me the said Edmund Jenings to go into England in this Year 1740
       and to appoint & Employ such Person as shall be approved by his
       Lordships Governour of the said Province to transit & Dispatch in
       the Name & behalf of me the said Edmund Jenings ^such Business matters & things as shall be necessary to be transacted & Dispatched by me the said Edmund Jenings^ as Secretary
       of the said Province during my Absence Now know Yee that I
       the said Edmund Jenings in Pursuance of the said Leave and
       permission & by & with the Approbation of his Excellency Samuel
       Ogle Esq.r Governour of this Province of Maryland do appoint
       & employ John Ross of the City of Annapolis Esq.r to transact &
       dispatch in my Name & behalf what may be necessary to be
       transacted & dispatched by me as Secretary of this Province
       during my said Absence Given at the City of Annapolis under
       my hand & Seal this 27.th day of October 1740

                               Charles Absolute Lord & Propry of the Provinces of Maryland
       & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltimore &c To all to whom these Presents shall
       come Greeting in our Lord God Everlasting Know Yee that We reposing
       Especial Trust & Confidence in the Capacity Care & Diligence of Daniel Dulany
       of the City of Annapolis Esq.r Have made constituted ordained authorized &
       appointed & by these Presents we do make constitute ordaine authorize and
       appoint him the said Daniel Dulany to be our Chief Agent Escheator & Receiver
       General of all our Rents Arrears of Rents fines forfeitures Tobaccoes or Moneys
       for Land Warrants of all Ferry Waises Strays & Deodands of all Duties arising from
       or Growing due upon Exportation of Tobacco or Tunnage of Ships & all other
       Moneys Tobaccoes or other Effects in any manner or ways now due or hereafter
       to Grow due whether by Protest Bills of Exchange or otherwise to me within
       the said Province hereby granting to the said Daniel Dulany full power
       & authority to sell & dispose of all Lands Tenements & Hereditaments to us
       now Escheated or forfeited or hereafter to be escheated or forfeited to such
       person or persons as shall Agree or Pay for them such reasonable Rates
       in Money as shall be agreed for Also to inspect into order manage and
