17) The Seal of Tho Micklethwait Mayor the Burrough of Leeds Thomas Barker of Howden on the Parish of Kildwick and County of York husbandman Aged Seventy Nine Years maketh Oath that he was well acquainted with Robert Wright late of Morton in the said County Merchant now deceased who was the only surviving Brother and Heir of John Wright late of Maryland Merchant deceased; And he also Saith that the said Robert Wright had lawfull issue of his Body to wit John Wright late of Beckingham in the County of Kent Taylor his Son who is now also dead without issue and Jennet Wright his Daughter who afterwards was marryed to James Oats of Morton aforesaid Deceased and that the said Robert Wright had no other issue of his Body That the said James Oates and Jennett his Wife had Issue of their two Bodys lawfully begotten to wit James Oates Mary Oates John Oates Sarah Oates Elizabeth Oates and Ann Oates and no other And that the said James Oates the Son and Elizabeth Oates doth dyed in their Infancy without any Issue of their Bodies And that the said Mary Oates since Married to Robert Mitchell of Morton aforesaid Sarah Oates and Ann Oates are all now alive And this Depon.t is informed and verily believes that John Oates is Dead in Maryland without any Issue of his Body And he also Saith that the said Mary Oates who hath since intermarryed with Robert Mitchell of Morton aforesaid Sarah Oates and Ann are Heirs at Law of the said John Oates their late Brother Deceased and that the said Mary Mitchell Sarah Oates and Ann Oates are now all living and Verily believes none of them were ever out of England Sworn to at Leeds in the County his Mark of York the Sixth Day of February Thomas T Barker 1734 before me Hen Scott Mayor Burrough of Leeds in I Henry Scott Esquire Mayor The Seal of the County of York of the Burrough aforesaid do the Burrough hereby Certifye all whom it doth or may of Leeds Concern that Thomas Barker in the above written affidavit mentioned did this Day voluntarily to me before me and Did take his Corporall Oath upon the Holy Evangelists that the Contents of the above Written Affidavit are true In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Caused the Common Seal of this Burrough to be affixed the Sixth Day of February in the Year of our Lord 1734 Hen Scott Mayor (Maryland) |
