100) Maryland fs July 11.th 1739 before us the Subscribers two of the Right Honble the Lord Proprys Justices of the Peace for the County of Somerset Came Charles Kirkpatrick one of the Subscribing Evidences to the within Power of Attorney & made Oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that at Dumbarton in that Part of Great Britain called Scotland on the fourth Day of December last he saw William Campbell Sign Seal and Execute & deliver the within Power of Attorney as his Act and Deed & that at the same time he Subscribed the same as an Evidence & also that he Saw Robert Anderson Andrew Waddell and Robert Boyd Subscribe the same as Evidences in his Presence In Testimony whereof We have hereunto set our hands the Day & Year above written W.m Stoughton Henry Ballard To which aforegoing Power of Attorney was annexed the following Certificates and Affidavits (Viz.t) By James Duncanson of Garshake one of his Majesties Justices of the Peace for the County of Dumbarton and Humphrey Colquhoun both Magistrates of the City of Dumbarton These do Certifye that this Day appeared before us David Wier Merchant lately one of the Baillys of this City and made Oath that William Campbell Merchant here who is still alive is brother to Pat Campbell also Merchant here deceased That the said Patrick had only one Son Named Walter whom he knew in this City and heared that he went abroad and Settled in Maryland In Testimony whereof the said Deponent and Magistrates have Subscribed these presents at Dumbarton this Seventh Day of December One thousand seven hundred and thirty Eight Years and the said City Seal is hereto affixed David Weer Jurat Coram J.a Duncanson Seal Hum Colquhoun These do likewise Certifye that John Naismith Tallow Chandler in this City appeared before us this Day and made Oath that he was very well acquainted with Patrick Campbell Merchant in Dumbarton deceased that he was Brother to William Campbell also of Dumbarton ^Merchant^ yet alive that the said Patrick had only one Son named Walter Campbell whom he likeways Know for severall Years before he left this Place And that he heared he went abroad and Settled in Maryland In Testimony whereof the said Deponant & Magistrates have Subscribed these Presents this Seventh Day of December One thousand Seven hundred and thirty Eight Years And the said City Seal is hereto affixed Jo Naismith Jurat Coram J.a Duncanson Hum Colquhoun Seal |
