(473) x.d Maryland fs.t Know all men by these
Presents that Wee Mathew Tilghman Ward of Talbot County Gent and Rich.d Bennett and Richard Tilghman sen.r of Queen Anns County Gent are held and firmly bound unto the Right Honourable Charles Lord Proprietary of the Provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore in the full and just sume of Four Thousand pounds sterling Money of Great Brittain to be paid To his said Lordship his heirs and suscessors to the which payment well & truly to be made and done we do hereby Bind our selves and either of us by himselfe our and either of our heirs executors and administrators joyntly and severally in the whole and for the whole sum firmly by these Presents In Confirmation whereof we have hereunto sett our hands and seales this Twenty third day of Aprill Anno Dom One Thousand seven hundred and Twenty Nine The Condition of this Obligation is such that whereas the above Named Charles Lord Proprietary of the provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore by his Deed hath Constituted, Ordained, Authorized and Appointed the above Bounded Mathew Tilghman Ward to be his Chief Agent Escheator and receiver Generall of all his rents arrears of rents fines forfeitures Tobacco or Money for Land Warrants, of all ferrys Waifs strays and Deodands of all duties Ariseing from and Growing due upon Exportation of Tobacco or Tonnage of ships and all other money Tobacco's or other Effects in any manner or ways now due or hereafter to grow due whether by protested Bills of Exchange, or otherwise to him within the said Province of Maryland thereby granting to the said Mathew Tilghman Ward full power and authority to sell and Dispose of all Lands Tennements & Hereditaments to him the said Lord Proprietary now Escheated and forfeited or hereafter to ^be escheated or forfeited to^ such person or persons as should agree or pay for them at such reasonable Rates in Money as should be Agreed for, also to inspect into Order, Mannage and Account for all and Every other branch & Branches of his revenue within his said Province whether the same be or grow due by particular Contract Conditions of plantations Act or Acts of Assembly or by virtue of the said Lord Proprietary his Royalties Rights Privelidges and Prerogatives within the said Province, And for the better & more effectual execution of the said power & authoritys thereby Granted the said Lord proprietary did further authorize him the said Mathew Tilghman Ward to give such directions and Orders to the Navall Officers of the said province as the said Mathew Tilgman Ward should think fitt the said shipping Officers being required to obey him accordingly thereby requireing and Ordering him the said Mathew Tilghman Ward to Remitt to his said Lordship for his proper use by the first & Safest (Opertunities) |
