Oaths of Abjuration & test and also took y.e Oath of Comisary Generall and Likewise gave bond w.th suficient suretys agreeable to y.e tenour of an Act of Assembly in such Cases made and provided before us William Lock John Smith Maryl.d fs June 24.th 1727 Then came M.r Wat Smith of y.e freshes of Patux.n who in our presence his name being first put in to y.e body of y.e w.thin obligation did seale and deliver y.e same De Novo as his Act and Deed as w.th ^wittness^ our hands y.e Day and Year at supra John Smith Philip Lee C Baltemore x.d Charles Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Provinces of Maryland & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c.a To Our Dear Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert Esq.r Greeting Know all men That We in Consideration of the Naturall Love and Affection We bear to You our Dear Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert and reposing Special Trust and Confidence in Your Loyalty Prudence & Conduct and fidelity have with the Approbation of his Most Sacred Majesty King George Nominated Constituted and Appointed And Do by these presents Nominate Constitute & appoint you Our said Dear Brother Benedict Leonard Calvert Lieutenant General and Chief Governour of Our Province of Maryland in America And also Admirale both by Sea and Land within the Limits of the same And Chief Captain and Commander in Chief of all forces raised or to be raised within Our said Province or Islands Territories and Dominions thereunto belonging And over such forces to appoint proper Officers and them to amove & remove at Your pleasure And further We do by these presents impower and Authorize you Our said Dear Brother to Call and Summon any |
