Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 10 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Somerset County (1963 Edition, being Article
20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Somerset
County," subtitle "County Commissioners," be and it is hereby
repealed.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That beginning with the 1970
election, five county commissioners shall be elected in Somerset
County, in lieu of the present three, and that provision shall be
made in the primary and general elections of 1970 for the election
of the two commissioners added by this Act. FOR THE PURPOSE
OF SELECTING PERSONS ELIGIBLE AS SAID COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS, THE COUNTY SHALL BE CONSIDERED
AS DIVIDED INTO FOUR COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICTS.
THE FIRST COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT SHALL CONSIST
OF CRISFIELD DISTRICT NUMBER SEVENTEEN (17) SEVEN

(7)  AND SMITH ISLAND NUMBER TEN (10). THE SECOND
COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT SHALL CONSIST OF BRINKLEYS
DISTRICT NUMBER THREE (3), FAIRMOUNT DISTRICT
NUMBER SIX (6), LAWSONS DISTRICT NUMBER EIGHT

(8)  AND ASBURY DISTRICT NUMBER TWELVE (12). THE
THIRD COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT SHALL CONSIST OF
DUBLIN DISTRICT NUMBER FOUR (4), WESTOVER DIS-
TRICT NUMBER THIRTEEN (13) AND EAST PRINCESS
ANNE DISTRICT NUMBER FIFTEEN (15). THE FOURTH
COMMISSIONERS' DISTRICT SHALL CONSIST OF WEST
PRINCESS ANNE DISTRICT NUMBER ONE (1), ST. PETERS
DISTRICT NUMBER TWO (2), MT. VERNON DISTRICT
NUMBER FIVE (5), TANGIER DISTRICT NUMBER NINE
(9), DAMES QUARTER DISTRICT NUMBER ELEVEN (11)
AND DEAL ISLAND NUMBER FOURTEEN (14). ONE OF
SAID COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL BE A RESIDENT
OF EACH OF SAID FOUR COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS, SO
THAT THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SHALL
BE COMPOSED ALWAYS OF A REPRESENTATIVE FROM
EACH OF SAID FOUR COMMISSIONER DISTRICTS; AND
THE FIFTH COMMISSIONER SHALL BE A COMMISSIONER-
AT-LARGE REPRESENTING THE ENTIRE COUNTY.

Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to affect the tenure of the county commis-
sioners who are in office on the effective date of the Act. The powers,
tenure, offices and number of these county commissioners shall con-
tinue for the remainder of their elected terms for which they were
elected as if this Act had not been passed.

Sec. 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
