whole of said county, heretofore vested in the justices of the peace
designated as trial magistrates and other justices of the peace of
said county. In civil cases, the judges shall have jurisdiction in
cases where the amount in controversy does not exceed [one thous-
and dollars ($1,000)] two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500),
which jurisdictions shall be exclusive in cases involving amounts
not exceeding three hundred dollars ($300), and provided that all
cases where the amount in controversy exceeds five hundred dollars
($500) may be immediately transferred or removed for trial by any
party to the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County. The deter-
mination of any matter adjudicated by the court shall be evidenced
by a judgment entered on a docket which shall be maintained in
such manner as the court may by rule determine. A copy of the
docket entries, certified by the chief clerk, or by a deputy clerk, shall
be evidence in any cause or proceeding in any court, or before any
justice of the peace, or agency of this State. The court however,
shall not be considered as a court of record.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 370
(House Bill 888)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 9 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Somerset County (1963 Edition,
being Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland)
title "Somerset County," subtitle "County Commissioners," as last
amended by Chapter 306 of the Acts of 1966; and to repeal Sec-
tion 10 of said Code, Article, title and subtitle, increasing the
number of county commissioners to be elected in Somerset County,
abolishing CERTAIN election districts in Somerset County and
providing for the election of the county commissioners added by
this Act in the 1970 election* AND ESTABLISHING NEW ELEC-
TION DISTRICTS.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Somerset County
(1963 Edition, being Article 20 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Somerset County," subtitle "County Commis-
sioners," as last amended by Chapter 306 of the Acts of 1966; be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

9.

There shall be [three] five County Commissioners for Somerset
County, who shall hold office for four years, and until their suc-
cessors shall be elected and qualified. Each of said commissioners
shall receive an annual salary of $1,500.00 in addition to the mileage
which may be allowed by law.
