(House Bill 719)

AN ACT to add new Section 267A to Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1968 Supplement and 1965 Replacement Vol-
ume) title "Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 27. General As-
sembly Scholarship Awards," to follow immediately after Section
267 thereof, to provide for reimbursement of tuition to certain
firemen upon completion of certain periods of studies in a course
of "Fire Service Technology," and specifying the conditions under
which such reimbursement shall be made.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 267A be and it is hereby added to Article 77 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supplement and 1965 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 27. General
Assembly Scholarship Awards," to follow immediately after Section
267 thereof and to read as follows:

Firemen and volunteer firemen shall be entitled to reimbursement
by the State for tuition costs required for courses in "Fire Service
Technology" in accredited institutions in Maryland. Reimbursement
shall be made one year after successful completion of each semester
of study, and shall only be made upon the condition that the indi-
vidual applying for such reimbursement is still employed as a fire-
man in any organized fire department in the State, or is still actively
engaged as a volunteer fireman in an organized volunteer fire de-
partment in the State. Reimbursement requests shall be admin-
istered by the State Scholarships SCHOLARSHIP Board.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 657(a)
of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Supple-
ment), title "Health," subtitle "Sanitary Districts," providing for
an alternate basis for the fixing of annual assessments in sanitary
districts.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 657 (a) of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Supplement), title "Health," subtitle "Sanitary Districts,"
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
