for which the payment covers except when the lessee makes payment
by check or when the lessee is renting the premises for commercial or
business purposes.

(b) Any person or any agent, upon conviction of violating this
Section shall forfeit the rent due for the period in question.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed to apply or be applied to any lease or interest in any
real estate IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY becoming effective prior
to the effective date of this Act.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.

CHAPTER 293
(House Bill 377)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 261 (a)
(12) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968
Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle "Home Improve-
ment Law," to alter the prohibition of advertisement of the fact
of licensing under the Home Improvement Law to authorize in-
clusion in advertisements of a contractor's license number, pro-
vided such inclusion is accurate and consists of and is limited to
a specified form and legend.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 261 (a) (12) of Article 56 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Licenses," subtitle
"Home Improvement Law," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

261.

(a) The following acts are prohibited:

(12) Advertising in any manner whatsoever that a contractor
or salesman is licensed under this subtitle; provided, however, that
a contractor may include in advertisements an accurate reference
to currently operative license number consisting of and limited to
the form and legend: "Maryland Home Improvement Commission
License No".

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1969.
